Subject-Verb Agreement ! - kiriyone日記

主語と動詞の一致について！まずは簡単なものから。

My sister is married.(singular 単数）

My sisters are married.(plural 複数)

My brother and I are single.(plural 複数)

主語がsingular → 動詞もsingular

主語がplural →　動詞もplural

次は文の始まりがthere+be 動詞の場合

There is a student in the hall.

There are three students in the hall.

There was no reason for his action.

There are many reasons for his success.

下線部分が主語なので、この場合も主語と動詞を一致させる！

３番目は、主語にofから始まるフレーズがくっついている場合

One (of my brother) is a singer.

The color (of her eyes) changes when she is angry.

Six kinds (of rice) are available in the grocery store.

下線部分が主語になりofフレーズは主語ではない！

主語がsingular → 動詞もsingular

主語がplural →　動詞もplural
